Project Lent

Seized by lentian passion, I've vowed to do and not do without. Is this acceptable? I don't even care. In tribute to the bluing spring, I dedicate myself to a forty day task. Before Easter I hope to have forty or more poems written right here on this blog. Now, "poem" might be a tad optimistic, but why not aim high. I will write each day and scrape together something resembling a poem. I hope some work. I would appreciate any feedback you care to give. Details... Details... I will try to have something new, but I will also try to add reworkings of things I can make better. It might be an interesting process, open-source poeming.

So, I've been gearing up for the challenge and I'll regale you now with samples of what you might expect. These scrawls are from yesterday:

I wish I were
that shooting star
with nothing else
to give, but light

You are the first spark to catch
in the slivers of kindling.

You are the idea, described in fire,
the first warm night of spring
in which stars are the only bits
of ice, dazzling at a distance,
reflecting your brilliant flame.
