I was surprised by a line in the Washington Post:

Intrigued, he placed a call to Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, whose wife had served on the board at St. John's.

The "he", in this case, is John Agresto, former president of St. John's College, Santa Fe. My surprise was hearing that Rummy's wife has served on the SJC board. I feel a little sullied by the contact. Whenever I think of Rumsfeld now, I think of Travis Dunn's warhog drawings.

I'm glad somebody is willing to discuss the occupation's shortcomings. There have been plenty. I met Agresto once as he smoked a cigar sitting on my rickety patio table, outside my Campbell Hall apartment. He was loud, but personable.
